Easter Egg Hunt

Well... many people know that I am not a fan of Easter Egg Hunts. Easter is about Jesus, and these events do not bring out the best in people...and SUGAR. We threw one in Texas for all the families of the Fire School...chocolate melts in the TX sun, parents greedily stood by eggs for their kids, and well, it just wasn't as fun as we had thought. So we haven't done them since. But today we went with Michelle and Raelynn out for breakfast, since she had never been to Awful Annie's! We tried to go early because they did want to go to the Easter egg hunt on base. But we couldn't make it back in time. But we still had some eggs lying around, so I suggested we just go get some stuff to fill them with and do it in the yard for the girls. So after nap time that's what we did. We bought a little candy, but we mostly got those mini snacks...mini ritz bitz, Oreos, goldfish, etc. it seemed healthier at least. They fit great and we could snack right away, which was everyone's favorite part.

Even though she was beyond exhausted and I made her finish her apples before we got treats, Emma was very excited to do the egg hunt.
And she was very good at  finding them, as you can imagine.
Raelynn, in Emma's old dress, had fun too. But she wanted to eat as she found them.

  1. We've avoided hunts for the same reasons you mention. ::snort:: We noted some of the same actions at the hunt with COLLEGE KIDS....it can be fun with a small group - glad you all made it work for you.
