Daddy's work

Today housing hosted a Fire Prevention thing in the park for kids to come see the fire trucks and stuff. Steven 'volunteered' to help with it, so we tagged a long to see Daddy work. Since Steven worked at the school in TX, Emma never really saw a fire station or a fire truck up close. We told her Daddy drove a fire truck, but apparently she didn't understand. When we got to the station, she liked it until we got into the stalls...where all the trucks are. She refused to walk around by herself and hung on to me for dear life. He tried to put her in a truck, but she did NOT like it. The actual thing at the park was fun, although Emma mostly ate the snacks the housing lady brought and watched everything from the safety of my lap. Everything fire related is scary to Emma, including Daddy with his gear on.
Sparky was scary, too

Pepper was 'the fire dog' and got lots of attention, everyone loved on her. :)

Playing with chalk

I bought Emma some sidewalk chalk, thinking it would be a good activity to kill some time outside while we are still here. Silly me, I forgot that sidewalk chalk and a toddler really don't mix. If she doesn't try to eat it, she sits right in the middle of my drawings getting chalk all over her clothes...also while holding it all and getting it on her shirt. She really did very little drawing. She also tried to throw the chalk in the bushes. Oh well. Maybe next year.
I also got her a kitty notebook to draw in, so she doesn't draw in my notebook.

I may have set her up so I could watch the US Men's Soccer game.

One more week

We only have one week left in this room!!! I realized last night that Steven works next Wednesday and Thursday...the day we get the keys AND the day we get our stuff and have to move out of the hotel  room. So we changed our plans a little bit. We are going to pack up the car Tuesday night, all check out Wednesday morning and take Steven to work. At 9:30 Emma and I will go to our new house and get the keys, unpack, and get some food. We will stay there that night, and the next morning the movers will deliver our things. We will pick Steven up from work Friday morning and start unpacking like crazy. Also, Emma and I are going to take him to work this weekend, so this (right now) is the LAST shift we will be in the hotel room stuck with no car! YAY! If only you knew how excited I was when I realized that. :)
Anyway, until then, we are keeping busy, finding new things to do. And for those keeping track, we found Emma's dolly and she (Emma) didn't get up until 7:40 this morning.

Sleeping Beauty

Emma hasn't been sleeping as well since we have been in the hotel room here, for many reasons. So I have been letting her fall asleep on our bed while I watch the World Cup, then leaving her to nap on our bed. It is quieter and warmer back there, and sometimes she sleeps longer back there. I try anything to get her to nap better. The upside of doing this is we get to see how sweet she is when she is sleeping.

Pigtails, part 2

I have decided that everything Emma does when she has pigtail in is cute. When we put her in her footie pajamas, I could hardly contain myself...she was so cute. So I took some more pictures.:) Here are just some of the things she does that are much cuter with pigtails:

Watching Tangled some more

Snuggling with Mom

Well, almost everything is cuter.

Pigtails

Emma got her hair cut today at a kids salon. She had fun, you know, until a total stranger came at her head with scissors. :) But they had toys and stuff for her to play with and she sat on my lap, so she did good. The lady was fast, but not very gentle. Anyway, I think it was worth it...she is super cute.

Playing with blocks

We are still in our hotel room, for another two-ish weeks. So when we were at Walmart today, I let Emma pick out a toy. She picked blocks...which she has been playing with ever since we got them out of the box. She loves to see how high she can stack them...then knock them over with a very LOUD evil laugh. It is pretty funny.

Helping Daddy build a tower

Knocking over Daddy's tower is more fun

If only you could hear the loud, evil laugh she is making.

She is very focused

Hmm, which block to I want next?

She actually did way better than I thought she would.

She built this all  by herself.

Laundry party and and orange toe

Daddy went to work this morning so Emma and I did our chores. When I was growing up, we had laundry parties...which basically meant my mom wanted help folding the laundry....not so much fun for a kid...unless that kid doesn't know any better. ;) Plus Emma loves to help me. (Although I do usually prefer to do the laundry when she is asleep.) But we had fun anyway.
She kept yelling, "pile!" and then falling on it like it was leaves.

I suppose we had a fun laundry party.

Emma is getting quicker...as in I have to anticipate her orneriness. And in a hotel room that is even harder...less for her to do, more for her to get in trouble with. Today I tried to paint her toe nails...I thought it would be fun. But first I had to trim her toe nails. I put Curious George on distract her, but she still wiggled enough that I got part of her skin...then when I tried to paint her nails she thought the nail polish might taste good. Thankfully it didn't so she barely got any on her mouth...although I was still freaking out and washed her real good then promptly put it all away. But I did get one toe painted, and we are enjoying looking at it since it won't happen again for a very long time.
She thought her baby might want to read a book or two.

Poured the rest of the bag of chips in my bowl before I could stop her.

Her pretty orange toe.

Swimming with Daddy

Today Emma and I went shopping while Daddy took a very long nap. It was very hot outside, so we decided to go swimming when we got back. Emma, however, always seems to not want to go along with whatever we had planned. This time she decided to poop right before, which we thought was great, since she got it over with before we went. However, when Emma poops, it takes her a while. Sometimes we will give her like 20 minutes to finish, which we apparently should have done today. I figured we didn't need to put a diaper on her since she just pooped, so we changed into our swimming suits and...Emma had an accident. While I waited on housekeeping to come and clean the carpet, Emma and Daddy went swimming. After it was clean, I went down to swim, too. I took the camera to get some pictures until I noticed that Emma was leaving very muddy-looking water wherever she sat. So we came back, cleaned her off in the tub and I am going to buy swimming diapers tomorrow. Apparently she wasn't done pooping. Oh well. I did get some good pictures before we had to leave.
She told me she wasn't tired, just wanted to play in her crib.

Already to go swimming
