Well last night was the Firefighter's Ball, and we were the best-dressed people there...literally, we were way over dressed. On the tickets it said it was "West Texas Casual, wear your cowboy boots!" So I said, "they always say that, and people always dress up." Steven didn't think so, he was going to wear his cowboy boots, but he dressed up anyway. And let this be a lesson to me, I should have listened. We were way over dressed. Everyone really was in jeans and cowboy boots. I just figured, it's a 'ball,' and that people always dress up for this...it used to be a semi-formal event, but they changed it last year when we didn't go because Steven was deployed. Oh well, it's over, and I survived.
Anyway, Emma had a great time with the babysitter, they even skyped with Aunt Grace. And after last night I think I am finally ready to move. I told Steven that it was fun when we used to help set these things up and put them on. Then it was fun to watch people do it after us since we knew what went into it. But now I am just bored...many of our friends have left and we mostly know all the civilians, who are beginning to retire. And the event last night didn't seem as special either....little things kept going wrong, and while I partly blame the casual atmosphere, it just didn't seem like it was the event it used to be. Oh well. It was our last one. Now we have less than two weeks until we head off for California. Let the fun begin!
