Pepper has had a bare spot on he elbow for quite some time. But after we gave her her last bath, we noticed it was bleeding. It wasn't getting better, so we took her to the vet today. The vet said it is infected, so we have to give her medicine twice a day and also soak it in an Epsom salt bath twice a day and then take her back twice to make sure it's healing.
Pepper hates baths and any water that is not for drinking, but I do think she enjoys the special treatment, as we sit and pet her for the time she has to soak her leg. And I don't often say this, but she deserves it. She is old and puts up with a LOT. We do take her for a run every morning, but since Emma was born her special treatment has been considerably less. So it's good to pamper her when she is sick. We sure do love her, as Emma says, "she's a good dog." Pepper enjoys having her picture taken about as much as she enjoys baths.
We put her medicine in peanut butter. And Emma carried the bag of Epsom salt into the kitchen and said, "this is too heavy for little girls."
It's sideways, but I got Emma a minion boo boo buddy...she loves it. In fact we have all had ouchies all day long.
