Peekaboo/sitting up
Today has been a long day...Emma took a two-hour 'nap' last night at 6:30, woke up for about an hour and then went back to sleep. She then woke up wide-eyed at 5AM. Sigh. Oh well. I will sleep when she is a teenager. Anyway, in between talking with Aunt Grace, changing poopy diapers and (trying) to put her down for naps, we have been folding laundry. I usually prop her up on pillows so she can see, and giver her toys to play with. She is doing so much more now, and she really wants to sit up.
Sorry for the crazy camera skills towards the end.

Happy Girl
I was working on Emma's scrapbook while she slept this afternoon. While looking through old pictures, I found a video from when she was 2 months old...it won't let me upload it, but she has grown so much! I must say, it was weird that she didn't smile at me. She is such a happy girl. She smiled at all the old ladies (and old men) at my Bible study this morning...that is a lot of smiles!

Naked baby....again
Emma has been waking up quite a bit at night lately, kind of groaning or fussing. Grandma Joy thinks she is teething....and I would agree considering all her drool and her fondness of her teething ring. I also think her tummy was a little upset this morning, but she definitely got it all out after she woke up. :) Anyway, I don't think she is feeling great today...she was more snuggly than usual and a little warm (although the thermometer didn't agree). She is taking another nap now...hopefully soon she starts feeling better because Mommy is tired.
Here she is playing with no clothes on, talking to Aunt Grace on the phone.

Fire truck pajamas
Here is Emma last night in her fire truck jammies. Sorry for the weird smiles...some how I changed the camera to be timed.
So today I went back to my Precept Bible study. It is 9 to 11 at our church. However, that is also about Emma's nap time. Once we were there she couldn't get to sleep...it was cold in the nursery and there were little kids playing. I basically got to be in my Bible study for about 20 minutes. Ugh. I think next week I will just keep her with me and see how it goes. I don't know how all this leaving her is supposed to work, but it is not going like I thought it would. Everyone says she is a mommy's girl, which I don't really mind. I just don't know how I am supposed to leave her in new places with all these new people and get her used to a new routine. I am glad I don't work. Sometimes being a new mom is frustrating, but I guess we will figure it out our own way.

My new haircut
Sorry for the lack of posts this week. We have been very busy. We had a date night on Friday....and our date nights in general have, well, not gone as planned. This time Security Forces wouldn't let us sign our babysitter on base because their system was down and they 'aren't writing paper passes anymore.' So we had to get Emma ready and take her to Kerry's house for the evening. So there went an hour of our date. Also, we were so busy on Friday that Emma was exhausted by the time the evening came. She finally went down about 4:30, but the national anthem woke her up at 5. She looked tired and miserable...just wanted mommy to hold her so she could go to sleep again. However, we had to take her to Kerry's. I know she took like a 20 minute nap, but I think she was pretty upset when she woke up in a strange house with strange people. (We were going to work out at the fire school for our date, but that didn't work since we had to leave base.) Anyway, I think we are going to take a break from date nights...it seems to work out much better when we take Emma with us. She usually falls asleep while we eat, so it is basically a free date night.
Anyway, we were all pretty tired by the time it was time for bed Friday night. It has been taking me an hour to get Emma down, which wears me out. Happily, I think she is either growing or we wore her out on Friday, because she slept a LOT yesterday, and it didn't take as long to put her to sleep. It was a nice break for us. We watched a lot of Duck Dynasty since our house was clean from Friday. :) She even slept over 12 hours last night. (Yesterday when she woke up for the day, after only 8 total hours, I read her the book that said she was supposed to sleep 10-12 hours a night, plus 2-2 hour naps. She seems to have listened...I should have read this to her before!)

I also got a haircut yesterday...it was way overdue. Emma liked it.

Busy Day
Emma and I had a very busy day. (She slept much better last night.) There is a lady across the street (by our mailbox) that has some moms and their kids over on Friday mornings, so we went to her house today. Emma loved watching all the little kids; she smiled and giggled until she had to take a quick nap from all the excitement. When we got home, Steven called and asked if we wanted to go out for lunch with his office, which we did...and we even had dessert first! :) Then we made a pit stop to the chocolate store, and headed to the T-Shirt place to make an order. Emma charmed everyone all afternoon. We came home and cleaned and did some laundry before Emma couldn't stay awake any longer. Steven and I are going out on a date night, too. We are all going to sleep good tonight!
Here is Emma getting ready to help us hang her diapers.

Fighting Sleep in the Bumbo
It took me an hour to get Emma to go down for a nap. She needed to eat, 3 times apparently, and poop. She kept trying stay awake, and since I was hungry, I let her play while I made my lunch. Here she is playing in the bumbo. (She has been sleeping for over 2 hours by the way.)
She slept better last night, was only up for about 45 minutes around when Steven's alarm went off. In fact, I think she was only awake until he left. Hmm....

Toys
Today did not go as I had planned. I had a giant list of errands to do, but we only made it to the fire school to see daddy...which was not on the list. Emma has been waking up early in the morning and deciding it is time to wake up (usually around 4 or 5). She then stays up for an hour or two while I am trying to put her back to sleep. I try to tell her that since Mommy doesn't work she can sleep as late as she wants, but she doesn't seem to listen. So today, we finally went back to sleep around 7:15 for a couple hours, so our morning got off to a late start. (I probably should have just stayed up like I did yesterday, but I was tired.) So I just decided to put off the errands for another day. Instead we just stayed home and played, and chewed on anything in reach (well Emma did that).
All toys must meet Emma's standards: Must be able to chew on! |

Mommy's Girl
Well, today I start back at the Pregnancy Help Center. Emma is going to Tracy Torbett's house this morning. It is also where we were at small group last night, so hopefully she will be comfortable. I have been praying that she adjusts to being with other people, because she was upset in the nursery again yesterday (same sniffling cry, although she was tired, too) and seems nervous when I let other people hold her. We moved her back to her sleeper in our room because she (well, mostly I) sleep way better this way. She seems much more comfortable snuggling in her sleeper to go to sleep. We will move her to her room eventually, but right now there is a lot of change going on, so we will just do this. We need our sleep!
Here we are before church.

Giggles
Happy Friday...I hope you all got more sleep than I did. Emma slept in her crib all night last night. After watching her in her sleeper before bed last night, I decided she looked a little uncomfortable (not just gas), like she couldn't stretch out enough, so I moved her to her crib. (She is getting very wiggly.) I think it upset me more than it did her, and it took me forever to fall asleep. Then she woke up every two hours to eat...like clock work. She has never woken up that much, even when she was little. (When she was little, ha.) I think a nap for Mama is in order today.
Here is a video we took yesterday after Steven came home early. (Make sure to scroll down, I posted twice yesterday.)

Emma's Scrapbook
I have been working on Emma's scrapbook whenever I get the chance. I have basically taken over our table. Here is what I have done so far. (Sorry about the glare.) Thanks everyone for all the scrap booking supplies.

Play time
Today was rainy again, so we stayed inside and did LOTS of laundry. We took a break for play time, though.
I have been trying to put her to sleep in her crib for her naps. It is not as cold during the day, and she doesn't seem to mind where she takes her naps. Hopefully soon we can transition to her crib all the time.
Mom...I can grab ahold of this! |

Rainy, sleepy day
Emma has been a sleepy, poopy girl today. :) I decided to stay home today since it is rainy, and she seems to still be recovering from her shots. (She has a low grade fever.) I have started her scrapbook with my free time.
Here we are yesterday, in our pink pajamas.
Once again, if my camera was faster, these would be smiles.

4 month shots
This morning Emma went to the doctor for her 4 month shots. She did pretty good considering she was being kept awake during her usual nap time. She cried, but did better after nursing....and Daddy distracting her. She weighs 11lbs 12oz (9th%), and is 23 1/4 inches long (12%). The doctor said her random pooping was fine, and to give her tylenol (not numbing stuff) if her teething is bothering her. This picture is from yesterday watching football, but it is basically what she is doing now. (And hopefully will be doing all day, if the neighbors would stop drilling for oil in the bathroom!)
On a side note, she went to the nursery yesterday. She was crying when I picked her up...apparently she had just started, and she was tired and hungry...but I can't help thinking that it wasn't a tired or hungry cry. It was a sad, sniffling, where is my mommy? cry. It may take both of us some time to get used to her staying with all these other people on a regular basis. (Next Monday she is staying with a lady in our church who has home daycare; it is also where we go for small group...I will be going back to the Pregnancy Help Center. In a couple weeks I start my Precept Bible study at church again, they have childcare there. Then there is the nursery on Sundays and a babysitter for date night.) Sigh. We both need to get used to it before Steven leaves anyway. :(

Snow day
Today we got a little snow...it is very pretty, and is already melting. But you know Texas....Steven didn't have to be at work until 10. However, he didn't' find out until he was on his way to his car. Oh well. When Emma and I got up, he suggested trying to see if she would rollover...this is what we got. Keep watching until the end. Happy Friday!

Teething
Emma is officially teething. Here she is gnawing on one of her many teething rings that we rotate in the freezer, along with some wet wash cloths....and our fingers of course, but they don't go into the freezer.
I have been trying to get Emma into some kind of bedtime routine...read a book, sing a song, pray with daddy and go nite nite. It usually works to at least get her sleepy. Last night we did it after her bath, and she fell asleep. However, when I went in to get ready for bed, I woke her up. Big mistake. She was then wide awake and happy for the next 3 hours. Ugh. SO we skyped with my family and had tummy time on the ipad. It wore her out and she went to sleep about 11. Hopefully we can start putting her to bed in her crib soon, so we don't have to worry so much about waking her. (Her room gets too cold at night now. We bought a space heater, but it was so loud and it turned itself on and off every couple of minutes...it will be going back to the store.)

Moosie
Happy Wednesday Morning....BARK! BARK! BARK! That is what I woke up to. Pepper is very upset about the movers next door and has been barking at them all morning. Oh well. He is an intel student, just married, and they leave in March. So Emma and I got up....I tried to get her to roll over (again, since I missed it the first time), but she then reminded me I forgot to feed her. Oops. So I fed her and then laid her on the bed with my old Moosie, who I think I name Holly---as I do everything I get for Christmas.
We had her out yesterday trying to distract Emma. I think she (Emma) is teething. She was inconsolable yesterday, didn't even want to nurse. The cold washcloth seemed to help though. Poor kiddo. Anyway....later than night she rolled over, and Steven and I both missed it. Hopefully she will do it again today! We might even try to get a video, now that we know she can do it.

Happy New Year
Happy New Year! Emma decided that she wanted to ring in the new year....so she and I didn't get to sleep until about 12:15am last night. Apparently fireworks go off at midnight...I haven't stayed up in years. We tried to go to bed at 10:30 with Steven, but she apparently wasn't tired. (He is feeling a little better, but still a little queasy and weak....he didn't eat almost anything yesterday.) While Steven was taking a nap yesterday, Emma and I went shopping and got our van washed. Then we came home and turned on the football game to try to get a glimpse of Aunt Tory. Here is Emma watching the TV:
Sorry, Mom, can't smile now. I'm watching football. |
