Passports, applesauce, etc.

For those who missed the update, Emma pooped last night. :) And we all slept pretty good. :) Today we applied for our passports. Emma charmed and flirted with everyone at the Post Office.
Eating my applesauce yesterday.

Heeeeeyyyyyy!

Such a happy girl.

Playing with Daddy outside.

Being a new mom.

I don't often post reflective or meaningful ramblings as others do on their blogs...but I found a post that someone else shared on facebook that I enjoyed.

Being a new mom has been an adventure, to say the least. I enjoy (almost) every minute of being Emma's mom. However, I do experience many of the pressures that she discusses in this post. Even before I had Emma, it seemed like it was life or death whether or not I had an epidural or not during labor. I finally realized, it is not the end of the world if I get one, which I did. And guess what, Emma survived. All of those other decisions she mentioned, cloth vs. disposable diapers, organic vs not, working vs not working, home school or public school, it seems you are wrong no matter what you choose. Not only that, to add to the pressure, I haven't lost my baby weight and don't spend every hour at the gym and don't eat only carrots all day long. It is hard to ignore the criticism of our culture.

A few months ago I realized that it was just going to take me a while to be able to do all the things I used to do...and that I may not ever be able to do them ALL again. So, I decided I needed to try to add in one at a time. The first thing I needed to add in was studying the Word. If I do nothing else all day, I need to study the Word and spend time with God...I need to focus on Him and His promises to combat the lies and criticisms of this world.  My body will die someday, and I don't want to have spent more time working on frivolous things in this life than my spiritual self, which will live forever. That is what matters. My house may be a mess, we may go out for dinner, and it may take me a little bit longer to lose all the baby weight, but I know where I am going when I die and I know the One with whom I will spend eternity.

"Discipline yourself for the purpose of godliness; for bodily discipline is only of little profit, but godliness is profitable for all things, since it hold promise for the present life and also for the life to come."
2 Timothy 4:7b-8

Apple-milk-sauce

We talked to Martha and decided to give Emma applesauce with breast milk rather than get apple juice. We had apples so we didn't even have to go to the store. This is the first time she had any...and as you can see, she thought we were giving her medicine. I gave her some more tonight and she loved it...opened her mouth real wide for it. :) She also had applesauce boogers when we went out today.

No poop yet by the way.

UPDATE:  Emma did poop last night before bed, twice actually. Daddy made her do squats and I guess that worked. We were all very excited...and she slept great.

Emma needs a Poop....

That is the start to Emma's poop song that we stole from Guen. But Emma hasn't pooped since Sunday....and Constipated Emma doesn't sleep well. So Momma called the doctor and the doctor said..give her apple juice. (Sorry, I was singing the monkey's jumping on the bed song.) Anyway...we will be getting her some juice today. Last night she was very upset, so we took her clothes off to try to wiggle her legs around some more....she really enjoyed being naked.

Here she is playing with Daddy this morning.
Emma and I are getting passports today...apparently we need them just in case there is an emergency while Daddy is deployed. I can't wait to get her a passport...

Just A-swingin'

It was super nice out today...and we saw some friends from church/Emma's babysitter at the park, so we joined them. While we were talking, Pepper made an impromptu appearance, and we now have a bigger hole in our fence.

On our way back to our house, we noticed that one of our neighbors had collapsed on his way from his car to his house. His wife said he had heat exhaustion, which turned out to be more like severe dehydration. Steven went over to check on him and decided to call 911. The guy had eaten a power bar, had a pre-work-out drink (which are usually bad for you, especially dehydrated) and a Monster energy drink....that's it all day, to my understanding. He had worked out and had a PT test. They took him to the hospital. On a funny note, Steven called 911 and Campos answered.  I think it threw the guy's wife off when Steven was like, Oh hey, Campos! :) (Campos is the dispatch on base.) Anyway, it was an interesting outing to the park. And I think it made Steven miss being a 'real' firefighter again.
