Cleaning

Today Emma wrote her name on the kitchen floor with a red crayon. While she was down there cleaning it up, I showed her a couple more spots to wipe up. She then proceeded to mop the entire floor, wipe the refrigerator door, rearrange the magnets, clean the counters and do the dishes. She was dying to start the dishwasher herself. I ate my dinner while she cleaned. I'm not going to lie, I take alll the help I can get these days!!

She wiped the counters after cleaning all the stuff off of them.

See the floors?

She did the dishes, too. She is pretty thorough for a 5 year old. I still think she just did it to start the dishwasher all by herself. But I will take it.

Emma's packing

The movers came to pack up Ada's house today. We stopped by afterwards and Emma saw their empty house. Then she came home and started packing her own suitcase: swimming suits, underwear, lanolin, diaper rash ointment, and bows. She said she was going to Korea. Then she packed a packing cube with shirts, and when she 'came back,' she said she had been to Hawaii. (A boy in her class moved there last week.) she was hilarious, but she did put it all away.

Emma's newest concoction

Oh Emma. I need to get her cooking lessons or something. Today's concoction included the rest of her dirt and worms from the housing office, sour cream, coconut sugar, dried cranberries and lots of almond extract.

It's not as bad as usual, but she used way too much almond extract and that made it bitter.

Fire safety poster

This week is fire prevention week. Which is good because the fires are raging all around us! We had ash falling out of the sky today, and some of our friends got evacuated. Pray for RAIN!

Emma did her fire safety poster last week. And as you saw, they got to go to the station, too. They are having other things this week, too. And tonight they did a parade through housing.

I can't be sure, but I think all this fire business makes her miss Daddy. She has been talking a lot about missing Daddy and Pepper lately. She even said she wasn't listening in school because she missed them. :( She had trouble sleeping tonight, so we talked about school and watched Daddy videos. In some of our talking I was talking about seeing our families, and told her Daddy would be home after Valentines Day. Her eyes lit up. A year is a LONG time to anyone, and forever for a little girl. She has been quite the trooper. It has been a year full of big life events (losing Pepper, friends moving, mom working, wedding, starting kindergarten). If you think of it, would you send a card, letter or whatever you can think of? (I saw some cute kitten ones at the dollar store.) She loves to get mail, and needs some extra love right now.

She drew a picture of our house. She is in the living room, I'm in the bathroom. :/ The fire is in the kitchen and she drew lines and arrows for how we should get out of the house, and meet at the tree. Also, you may notice she drew Daddy at the fire station.

Darlene's baby shower

I have been working with some friends to plan a baby shower for our friend Darlene. She has 2 boys, and is having a girl.

Bridget and Alhanna made the diaper cake

Emma wanted to get all dressed up.

And have her hair curled

You can't see it very well, but they were playing a game where they had to guess whose baby picture belonged to whom. The pictures were from her family. This game sounded fun, and was...but Darlene is Hispanic and her husband is not, so we put a time limit to make the game harder.

Diaper racing game

Emma let us borrow the dolls.

We had the girls play, too.

Emma won.

Tres leeches cupcakes.

Me, Alhanna, Darlene, Bridget, Christi...and Emma.

Having 4 hostesses made it way more fun!

Darlene, Bridget and Alhanna live next to each other. They all have boys Emma's age, so we hang out at the their houses a lot. Emma is usually the only girl. After the shower we walked the presents to Darlene's house and the kids played for an hour or two. We are exhausted!

Fire station field trip

Thursday Emma's class went on their first fired trip. They walked to station 2. They got to see inside the station, walk through the ambulance and watch Firefighter Bradley put his gear on in less than a minute. I got to go, too. :)

Emma's class, she is front middle

Checking out the gym

Checking out a room.

Watching Bradley put his gear on

Giving high fives

Jumping out of the ambulance. The ambulance now stays at the station.

It was fun to go along. Steven was on both shifts, this was the shift he was on most recently.

Grandma Joy and Papa Steve visit

Papa Steve and Grandma Joy are going to Lake Tahoe for their 35th anniversary, but they stopped by for a couple days since we are so close. They arrived Saturday night, and stayed until after school today. We went to church, where I put them all to work. :) We had a baptism (!!!) and Super Kids Sunday, so it was nice to have some extra hands. After naps and football we went to the Pumpkin farm and then came home for dinner. Today they took Emma to school because I had an early dentist appointment, and then we went out for breakfast. Emma got out early today, so they got to stay and say goodbye. We hate to see them go, it's always nice to have extra help...and Emma especially loves seeing family.

Emma made Grandma Joy bananas and whipped cream.

We have a mouse that has been coming by every so often. Last week he chewed through on of the wires on my new headphones that I accidentally left in the garage. Papa Steve is working on them for me.

Pumpkin Farm!

She loves to just play!

Papa Steve showing her how it works.

This girl loves ice cream. She would barely let go to let me have some.

I told her to say cheese.

These piglets were 3 days old! They were so tiny!

Tired girl. We had a busy, full weekend.

We are dog sitting Delilah while the Tangen's are out of town. She wanted to be in the picture...or just have someone let her.

Selfie!

We had quite a day after they left. We are very tired. This did get cleaned up.

This was right outside our back door tonight when we were going to take Delilah out. Thankfully Delilah stepped on Emma's foot , so instead of going outside, Emma stayed in and cried. If she had gone out at all she would have stepped on it barefoot. Not good. Steven thinks it is a rattlesnake. It was gone when we looked for it again, otherwise I would have called and insisted the FD come. We have had several creatures in/around our house lately. On Saturday after finding a lizard inside while trying to take a caterpillar outside, Emma started crying, "I want Daddy!" Me, too, kid. Pray that all the creatures leave us alone, and thank God that He protected us tonight!
