Donuts with Grandma

Monday I woke up and discovered that it was a holiday...which means that normal people have the day off. And since I had to eat something with my steroid meds, I thought it would be fun to get some donuts. And it was fun...
We had a treat at the store and then brought the rest back to eat with the boys. Yum.

Day with Grandma Connie and Aunt Suzanne

Last Thurdsay we spent the day with Grandma Connie and Aunt Suzanne. We ate lunch, went to a park, and had to bring Emma back for a nap since she stayed up late. So I got to go shopping and then we went to Gage Park, rode the train and played. It was a good day.
Emma thought Grandma was silly
Taking pictures with Emma is always interesting....

Riding the train
She liked it.

I'm not sure who had the most fun playing...

The last band banquet

It We have talked about this day for a long time...the last band banquet. In our family high school band was a right of passage. I remember when Faith finally got in high school and was in band...like she finally understood some of what Grace and I had done. When Tory got Mr. Evans as a sixth grader, she seemed to fit more easily with us...it gave us all something in common even though we were so spread out in ages and distance. Band was always a big part of our lives. Tory picked trombone bc she wanted to do something the rest of us hadn't done. She chose well. She surpassed all of us by winning the John Phillips Sousa award  for excellence in band...it was a perfect ending to the night and to our time with the Topeka West Charger Band. After 21 years, Mr. Evans will no longer have a Rose in any of his bands. But music will always be part of us, and the band at Topeka West will always be family. After all, that is where our little family got it start.

The fan

Emma loves fans. I have a picture of her from a long time ago when she was sitting with Grandma Connie enjoying the fan. She was being silly with it, making funny faces and noises. And not much has changed. She did the same thing last week. What a silly girl! Click below for the old pictures of the fan.

Zoo and poison ivy

Sorry for not posting in a while. I have lots of pictures to upload but I got a bad poison ivy rash last Wednesday and have been dealing with that. I finally went to urgent care today after trying everything we could think of and realizing it wasn't getting better on its own. Apparently I even tried some things you aren't supposed to do which is why it just kept getting worse. But now I have meds and stuff to help. Also Steven loaned me some two year old steroid cream and it has helped a lot. So since I'm feeling a little more normal, I thought I better update the blog...you may get lots of posts as the medicine is supposed to give me insomnia. :) And thank you to our families who have been so much help with Emma and taking care of me. :) and to the Lord, who always provides everything I need, no matter y situation. anyway, now back to the zoo....
Last Tuesday Grandma Joy and Aunt Faith went to the zoo with Emma and me. It was a little chilly, but we tried to bundle up. Emma loved the giraffes, elephants, Tigers and lions. After feeding the ducks she wanted to feed all the animals...sorry, Emma, you cannot feed the lions. She started to get hungry/tired so she wasn't as excited about the orangutans or flamingos. I think her favorite was definitely the elephants, but she was disappointed there were no zebras. But we all had a good time. :)
Continue at your own risk...poison ivy picture:

It really is looking better! Thanks for taking me to the doctor, Faith!

Happy Graduation Aunt Tory!

After Aunt Faith's graduation, we came back to Topeka for a nap/workout, and then headed to Aunt Tory's graduation. This is a day we had been waiting for ever since we she was born...we used to talk about how old we would be when Tory graduated...now I don't really want to think about it. :) But we are all very proud of Aunt Tory. She is a National Merit Commended Scholar...which means she is really smart, like top 3% of the nation smart. And Emma loves her....they are buddies and love to play together. They also look A LOT alike, if you ever get to see Tory's baby pictures. Anyway, here are pictures from Tory's graduation.

Happy Graduation Aunt Faith!

Saturday morning was Aunt Faith's graduation from K-State for her degrees in Biology and Psychology. She will get her degree for Education after she does her student teaching. But since I missed her high school graduation due to a cancelled flight, she graciously decided to 'walk' this May, so we could see her and hear her name called....one out of 750 graduates...yikes. But it was fun...and Emma was good, thanks to Aunt Grace and her ipad. :)

I took her picture on the megatron.

Shaking hands.

Sitting with Aunt Grace, looking at all the hats.

Emma had fun running between us.

I will post more pictures of Faith's graduation when I get them....my phone's storage was full after this one, but I fixed it.
