First week in Kansas!

Well we are still trying to catch up on sleep here, but we are enjoying the blue skies and sunshine.

Giant bug trying to get in the window that has so freaked Emma out that she doesn’t want to go outside.

“Sarah, get me Sheriff Taylor.”

She loves to play “Andy Griffith” with this phone.

Jet lag is not fun.

Fun garage sale finds!

We got all of this for $5!

Yum! We have been here 5 times already. 😁

Emma not cooperating at Grace’s tea party.

Emma cheesing because I made her.

Grandma Connie and I bought Emma some new clothes.

Bubbles!

We got out the pool to enjoy the sun.

Somebody likes being splashed!

These are ginormous! While I love the cheap produce prices, everything else (food at the grocery store) is incredibly expensive here! Yikes!

Traveling is hard

We got in last night! We are exhausted, but glad to be somewhere with blue skies!

Laying down waiting.

She would have fallen asleep like this, but they started talking on the overhead thing.

Asleep in the way to KS

So tired.

Yay for Chick-fil-a!

We went for a walk tonight with Grandma Joy and Papa Steve.

On our way!

We are on the plane! Emma’s iPad isn’t working 😫, but we got on the flight. They did not tell us when we are getting there, so im going to wait to buy flights until we get there. It is almost 7pm here, and I think we will leave in about 30 minutes? It might be late when we get in. If it is we may spend the night in the airport and flight early in the morning. As Emma says, “We’re on an adventure!” Our only neighbors on our floor are on this flight, too. :)
Edited to add:he just said it’s a 9 hour flight. This should put us in Seattle at noonish local time.

Eating apple slices, watching Andy Griffith on Mom’s iPad. I downloaded an audio book on my phone, so at least I won’t be bored like last time. And we have screens in our seat backs! So maybe we can watch new stuff.

Fun at Joyful Honda

Great news! We got all the forms and are on the list (which means we are eligible/approved for any space a flight in the next 90 days). Now all we have to do is pray that we can get on the flight! It was delayed until Sunday. We won’t find out until approximately 2pm-ish on Sunday our time if we got on or not. Not sure when it leaves.
Today I was exhausted. I got up, ate bee and went back to sleep for a couple hours. Emma watched Andy Griffith. After my nap we went to Joyful Honda to look for a hose or some sort of attachment for the dehumidifier. You are supposed to let it run continuously when you go on vacation this time of year, but we didn’t have a hose. You are supposed to be able to use a garden hose, but the one I got at the thrift store was too big. The one I got at the bx was too small. So we went to Joyful Honda and got a meter of 4 different sizes. The smallest one fit, and it seems to be working.

This is the current setup. Ignore my dirty dishes. It is super humid today. Our window wet foggy, and I was wearing my glasses today and every time I went outside or got out of the car they fogged up.

I found this a Joyful Honda. 😂

...And Dinner

Well we had a rough-ish day. We have all been exhausted, stressed and hitting our limits lately. We started out the day not know if we were leaving or not....spoiler...we didn’t. Steven sent me a text saying we wouldn’t be going. He needed another form. :( When we came home tonight, he said he was getting the new form and we could try again on Saturday! I didn’t understand his first text, I thought we couldn’t go at all. I am glad that is not the case. Hopefully we will be able to get on Saturday. But in the mean time, Emma and I were finishing packing, then not knowing what to do with ourselves during the afternoon. We went for a bike ride, watched some Andy Griffith, read some Laura, and tried to make dinner. I had intended to make butter chicken salad, but the chicken didn’t defrost in time, so we decided on egg salad. Emma wanted to help. Actually she wanted to do it all. And she did....peeled, cut and mixed all by herself. Somewhere along the way we agreed to a picnic dinner on the floor. After the day we had, it was fun to do something different, and it made Emma happy. We can all not wait for this week to be over and to, hopefully, be in the States!

Making dinner!

When you eat on the floor, you can lay down at the table. Or so she tells me.

Making lunch

We have a running joke around here, that Emma is never hungry when I put food in front of her at the table. She is usually hungry every other second, especially right after I say it’s bedtime, or when we are in the middle of running errands, etc. Yesterday we were busy packing, and I made eggs for lunch. I asked her if she wanted some, and she said no. So I was very frustrated when I sat down to eat my eggs when she told me that she did want some. I said, “too bad.” Well, she wanted them bad enough that she made them herself. I was busy and she cleaned the egg pan all by herself. When she got to the part of turning the stove on, I stayed near enough to help when needed. But she pretty much made her own lunch.

“I made a face.”

She was very proud of herself, and she ate the whole thing.

Tory’s birthday, Kichioji, Harajuku

Today was Tory’s birthday! We Skyped before church, she had chocolate cake for breakfast. 😁 After church she and I went into Tokyo by ourselves, while Emma stayed home with Daddy. We had a blast. We stopped first in Kichioji to get fluffy pancakes and walk around. Then we headed to Harajuku and walked around...for 3 hours. My feet hurt, but it was fun. We went to a Cat Cafe, did lots of shopping, and had Wendy’s for dinner.

Tory’s cake

Emma’s cake. I had a soufflé (fluffy) cheesecake, but my picture was blurry.

Happy birthday Aunt Tory!

Fluffy pancakes

I got a Dutch baby

The river by Kichioji

Look what we found! And she thought she wasn’t inKansas  anymore!

Petting a cat in the hallway of the cat cafe.

They said you can bring children, so I told Steven we should bring Emma for her birthday. It’s not cheap though. They charge per person for every 10 minutes.

There were two rooms. This is one, with the tree in it. The other is with the windows.

Hallways had books in it and free vending machines.

It’s on the second story right on the corner of Takajima street.

Roses on the ceiling.

This one was escaping the people in a kitty door. We wondered what they thought of all the random people trying to touch them constantly.

Faith, we found an otter, but didn’t feel like paying 1300¥.

Dope sandals

All the French fry options at Wendy’s.
