Sleep problems

Steven has been very tired after not sleeping well this week. He has fallen asleep on the recliner a couple nights and tonight fell asleep in the hammock on the balcony. Emma has also been having trouble...falling asleep at bedtime. She keeps coming out to sit with me. Sometimes we do Bible study, which she does like, but still makes her tired when it’s late. Lately I have just been making her go back to bed by herself. Tonight I told her to go to sleep and she said, ok. And this is what she did.

At this rate I’m the only one who will go to sleep in my own bed.

This is what we had for lunch. Yum! It was fried chicken...cheap fried chicken. KFC her is really expensive, but all of this was like $10! We have sooo much chicken leftover.

The kids sang at church today. Emma did a good job. This is the only picture I got, I will try to upload videos later.

Just not a normal advertisement...at least it’s in English!

Second week of summer

Well....we survived this week? This has not been our best week. Emma seems to be in the dog house a lot. Steven re-hurt his back and wasn’t sleeping good. We tried to have a schedule....which we managed. She did also make it to her art class thing on Thursday, which she enjoyed. (And I enjoyed the hour and a half break.)
And tonight we had a thunderstorm. It was just a long week and we are looking forward to having fun things to do when Aunt Tory comes.

For those keeping track, my French braiding skills are improving. It looked good enough for me to let her go out in public.

She loved her art class. It’s just a 16 year old girl who is teaching kids out of her home this summer. It’s a great idea. This is one of her drawings. The rest are in her room. She did an eagle, too. And she actually learned...as in she could draw it again for me when she got home.

I did a lot of PWOC stuff this week. This was my quick advertisement for the USO’s event today. Our publicity person was on vacation and no one else could do it. We changed our times so had to make something new. Honestly, we are way ahead of schedule for planning. I am very excited for this fall. The summer study is going great. It was definitely the highlight of the long week.

Summer days

We are not really in any sort of groove yet. Adrenal fatigue makes me not very enthusiastic in the mornings...but Emma did let me sleep in today! Woohoo! I got up at 6:50. It’s hard to be half asleep when she is bright-eyes an bushy-tailed. But we are learning...she does like to snuggle at least. This morning she made her own breakfast, and after I ate we watched our video for Bible study and then read a couple chapters in Little House on the Prairie. While I was reading she started playing legos while she listened. It turned into her playing Little House with the legos. She made a wagon and a house. She got a little Andy Griffith mixed up in her pretending. She was pretending that they had a dishwasher. When I said that they lived in a log house with no electricity, she said that Mr. Edwards gave them $100 so now they had money to buy one. ðŸĪ·‍♀️ Oh well. She had fun playing the Ingalls family.

The wagon

The house. Pa hunted lion for dinner. (We didn’t have any rabbits or anything normal.) Also there is a bowl of cornmeal mush. Can’t remember who Elsa is supposed to be.

The school has lots of online programs they can log into and keep working on during the summer. I make her do some sort of school work each day...yesterday she did some typing. It’s nice that my keyboard is small for her hands. I think she just pecks at school. I had to stay on top of her to not do that. I didn’t have a typing class I too high school. Steven thinks that by the time Emma is in high school she will not need typing...we will be talking or thinking our words onto computers.

Mom for (part of) the day

Yesterday Emma wanted to be the mom...she likes to take care of me when I’m sick...except for when I was actually sick she didn’t. ðŸĪ·‍♀️ But yesterday she wanted me to be sick so she could take care of me. She put me on the couch with a blanket and cleaned up the living room and made me lunch. It was nice while it lasted. She eventually messed it up again and went off to play with her friends. But she she did make dinner!

Cleaning the back of the tv.

Her stash of cleaning supplies.

My lunch

Making wraps for dinner.

Sick week

Well this first week of summer has been full of unexpected rest. Emma got sick over the weekend, and comes and goes with how she feels. Yesterday I came down with whatever she had. Hopefully Steven doesn’t catch it.

I thought she was better, but when we got to the commissary she started feeling bad again. She didn’t say a word the whole time.

She came home and after we watched some tv, she fell asleep on the couch.

And this popped up on my FB from 5 years ago! She was so tiny!!!

She took a picture of me. I was feeling better, but she wanted to be my nurse anyway.

We may have watched a lot of Andy Griffith this week.

Father’s Day Weekend

This weekend was...interesting. On Saturday I went to a bagel place with some friends, and Emma had a birthday party....a glow dance party. She was so excited! It was fun....and LOUD. Emma was more interested in the glow stuff than the dancing. That night she woke up at 2AM saying her tummy didn’t feel good. She ended up not being able to keep anything but Sprite down the whole day. We were exhausted...but glad to be able to rest. Steven, who was not up in the night, went for a two hour-ish run in the morning sunshine, and brought home McDonalds and some Sprite for Emma. We also took a nap and watched Robin Hood, with Ramen for dinner. She has done better today. Also...she managed to teach herself to ride a bike without training wheels Saturday. ðŸĪ·‍♀️ So Daddy took her training wheels off and she has been riding around the hallway. Today we went for a very short bike ride outside and she did great.

She is in the striped dress. This was the k my game she played. You were supposed to step on, and pop, other people’s balloons.

Sick girl. This was her favorite spot.

Last day of first grade

Today was Emma’s last day of first grade. She had a great year...she can read!! She is excited for the summer. I am excited to not have to pack a lunch for a child who doesn’t like Pb& j or really any sandwiches.

Last day as a first grader!

Her class

Emma and Ms. Bartl.

Some of what she brought home. Her acrostic for herself: Easy, Mindful, Makes food, Afraid of bees.  ðŸ˜‚😂😂

Rainy weekend

We will probably have a lot of rainy weekends coming up...it seems the rainy season has arrived. Last Friday was Emma’s school performance, I will try to upload a video tomorrow. But for now here are some pictures from the weekend.

She was a ‘seed.’

Smile!

She made that spider

Right before she lost her tooth.

Steven had fun looking a silly stuff at the hard off.

Tin Man Barbie!

This game was in German!

The Lemming Mafia!

A Mitsubishi sewing machine

She was trying in the masks

She lost her tooth! It was a crown so she got double from the tooth fairy...who apparently scares her. ðŸĪ·‍♀️ We even use the pillow outside her door so I don’t have to go in anymore, but I guess the idea freaks her out.

Busy week!

This week has been filled with meetings, field trips and a normal, although frustrating, week of work for Steven. Today was the swim field trip for Emma’s school, and Daddy got to go! He was the only dad...so you can imagine how that went over. ðŸĪŠðŸ˜ĢI did not go. I have had meetings ever day this week, and my rash on my arm is still not better. It’s does look to be healing. And tomorrow is her end of year school performance!

She wanted curled pig tails like one of her LOL dolls.

And of course a unicorn horn.

I think this may have been the itchy day? I went to the doctor after it kept me up at night. But he just gave me the over the counter stuff that doesn’t work...I wanted the good stuff! Oh well. This is nothing compared to the poison ivy I had a couple years ago.

This appeared and went away pretty fast. I still have no idea what it is from. Some sort of lead or a bug from the Ome Roller Park. I love to be in nature, but not that much nature. 😏
