Pumpkin Farm

We went to the pumpkin farm again today, and we had a good time. We went with some friends, and I guess it felt like fall since it seemed chilly.
She seemed to be more herself today.

Chasing Turkeys

As I was putting the trash out this morning, I realized there was a flock of turkeys in our back yard, so I called Emma out to see....then halfway down the sidewalk I realized Pepper came out, too. I tried to tell her to go back inside, but what kind of bird dog could resist chasing a whole flock of turkeys? So off she went. I finished putting the trash out and Emma and I went to look for her. She made it down the embankment behind our house, and we found her down there a couple houses down. She didn't get one by the way...guess we will have to wait for Thanksgiving to have our turkey.

Oh and Grandma and Grandpa Bency are coming tomorrow...Emma is just a little excited.

Staying awake

Update: After I typed this last night she slept until almost 7!
Taking naps away has been interesting. I still think it's a good idea, but we still need to make some adjustments. Like it would help if she could at least sleep until 6:30. And I need to just get up before her to have some quiet time. She has been doing better about not spontaneously falling asleep, and staying awake until bedtime. We do try to have quiet time, and she is pretty good for at least the first 30 minutes now. But I'm still trying to find time to do things like the blog, and some of the other things I would do during naps. But it is nice to do things and not have worry about waking her up. Monday we were doing lots of cooking, and she had a blast helping me.
She tastes everything.
Once she got ahold of the sponge it was all over, she was a cleaning machine.
She made a mess doing the dishes, so I gave her a towel to clean it up.
Pretending to sleep. She did this by herself.

My 30th birthday

Saturday was my 30th birthday. When we woke up I asked Emma if she wanted to go out for pancakes. She said, "not today." It took me a couple hours to get her to go with me, but we went...I wanted pumpkin pancakes...mmm. Emma had a face pancake. She mostly ate the whipped cream, chocolate chips and fruit. So after little shopping she was hungry again so we got smoothies, and then a burrito. We came back home and read books and played, and had dinner. We skyped with my family, who made me a birthday cake, complete with candles that I 'blew' out. Then they ate it for me. I opened a box from Steven that was filled with chocolate from the chocolate store in San Angelo. Yum. We had sore try good day...and thank you to everyone who sent me a card. It helped make my 30th birthday very special!
My breakfast buddy.
Notice this bite is only whipped cream and chocolate chips.
All partied out

Tired girl

Not having naps is exhausting, wouldn't you know it? She has not had nap time for 3 days now. She has fallen asleep on my lap right before dance class while reading books, and tonight on my lap watching cheetahs chase gazelles. She was honestly too tired/overwhelmed to enjoy the fall festival. She liked watching everyone, but didn't want to do anything. The second I mentioned going home she said, yes. Not cranky, just not a lot of energy. Crowds can overwhelm her. We have been having quiet times though, where I do my Bible study and she plays in her room. We read books, color, and honestly she has been playing by herself and singing a lot. But she just has trouble staying awake if she is still or quiet for long. She has been sleeping until 6:30, so I think it's going well. I still might let her have naps sometimes, but I'm liking the later wake-ups, so we will see. We will definitely need some more time to adjust, because we get pretty tired as the day wears on without having such long, quiet breaks in the afternoon.
I woke her up and took her to dance class. She didn't mind too much.
We were going to take a bath, but she couldn't make it. She looks so peaceful. Just crawled up on me and snuggled her head in my arm. :)
This is from earlier today. She had on a FD bag (it's like a reusable grocery bag stuff) and was being a ghost. We just had the carpets cleaned so there wasn't much she could run into.

Busy days

Emma and I have been keeping busy while Steven is gone. Maybe too busy. We have been doing our normal stuff, working out, etc. but we also made and decorated Halloween cookies wit some friends. I'm trying to take naps away while he is gone, for many reasons, but it's really messing with our schedule so far. Hopefully tonight goes better than last night!
I made her her own area in the garage for while I workout. She plays in here a lot...I always freak out not knowing where she is...until I discover her playing nicely in here.
Decorating  cookies went better this year.
Yikes!
I let her stay up, but she just can't stay awake in the car. So she ended up with a late nap.
I put her to bed normal time, but she couldn't sleep because dolly had an ouchie. So she ended up having a bedtime snack and going to bed late...then tried to wake up at 4am. But since Daddy isn't here to wake up, I made her go back to sleep, after an hour of fighting it that is. But she did, and slept till 7:30!

Fun family night

Last night we went to Roseville for an early dinner at Chick-fil-a, where we let Emma play for a long time in the play place. She has a blast. Then we headed over to Maurice's for to do some early birthday shopping...since Steven will be gone on my actual birthday. I actually got to shop into favorite store by myself...ahh. While I was shopping, Steven and Emma were apparently at Target picking out a singing kitty-cat birthday card....that was supposed to be a surprise for my actual birthday. But 3 year olds are terrible at keeping secrets, and she wouldn't shut up until he showed it to me. It was adorable...she wanted to show it to me/play with it herself so bad! After shopping, we headed over to Bass Pro to show Emma around. She thought this place was fascinating...all the fish, beRs, deer, turkeys, and even mov g duck decoys that she wanted to take home. She settled for a toy for Pepper. She also thought the orange hats were pumpkin hats. And since my phone storage is nearly full, Ateven took some pictures on his phone.

Donuts for breakfast

When I was little, we would always ask our Dad for donuts on Saturdays....mmm. I couldn't run on Saturday ( I hurt my toe), and we had gotten not so good sleep due to a very exciting and much-needed thunderstorm that night (well, mostly bc of the dog who is afraid)...so to let Daddy get some extra sleep I took Emma out for donuts. We never do this, and I normally don't promise her things when we go out invade we don't get them, but I told her we were going for donuts. So you can imagine our disappointment when they were all out. So we came home and made our own donut muffins. Emma really wanted a pink donut, so made her's pink. She was a happy girl.

Dolly high chair

Emma spends lots of time taking care of her dollies. She dresses them in jammies and  dance clothes, changes their diapers (a lot), feeds them, takes them for walks, reads to them, and even makes them say, "yes ma'am." And now she can feed them in their own high chair. She could hardly wait for me to put it together! Thanks Grandma Connie!
I td her to smile big...it comes out scary.

Long days, long naps

It is 9:11pm...and this is what is going on in our house:
Emma woke up at 4:37am, but had a 3 1/2 hour nap. I put her to bed around 8,  but apparently she couldn't sleep. She didn't get to see Daddy much today (and won't tomorrow either), so they are playing now.
Here she is happy after her super long nap.
