Bubbles, butter and birds

Emma has not been sleeping very good lately. Short naps, waking up crying, waking up super early in the morning after waking up in the night...she is doing ok today, but we are all pretty tired. She has been waking up inconsolable after naps, and I have been trying find things to do besides watch movies to help her wake up. Tuesday she woke up and was too tired/unreasonable to go shopping, so I found some old toys and books in the garage and she was (sort of) happy again. She particularly liked the bubbles, and I had to buy more at the store today. (Thankfully I remembered to buy them bc she definitely remembered!)

She also helped me make banana bread by pouring in extra sugar and chocolate sprinkles while I was cleaning up the eggs that fell out of the carton. I tried to make her a muffin to give her something to do, but she mostly licked off the butter and asked for more...to which I replied that she needed to actually eat the muffin.

Some birds made a nest of sorts outside our door. It's a pretty neat little home. Emma is obsessed with all the bird poop below. And we saw the neighbor cat one morning. Emma loves the cat, who seems to tolerate her.

Abc's

Emma  has been singing her ABC's a lot lately...all by herself. I tried to take a video on my phone but apparently my storage is full...so I had her sing it again so I could record it on my ipad. So this is like her 5th time singing it for me...and she didn't want me to sing with her.

New car seat

Emma's car seat was getting to the point that I couldn't work it well bc one of the strap frayed. Steven cut it and burned the edge so we could use it until we got a new one. Her new car seat came yesterday and we took it to the fire station tonight and he put it in. She loves it...she looks so big now. We went to get some pizza and she kept saying "mama," so that I would look back at her. The first couple times we stopped, her head wasn't ready bc she usually is opposite...and she was like, "this is crazy." It was so funny. She loves to be able to see what we see, and she even has a cup holder and two little cubbies for toys. She just looked so happy...she loves to do big girl things. Wait until she can watch a movie without having to turn her head! And I think she is starting to get used to not having her binky...after nap we talked about it...that it was broken. She usually says, "My binky is broken. We have to get a new one." But today she repeated what we have been telling her...that she didn't really need a new one bc she had her bear. She is getting there. She went down pretty normal tonight...didn't ask for her binky...and didn't cry or whine. :)
Oh and the bottom picture is from last night...that lizard got inside when I let Pepper out. It took us over an hour to get him out. It was very exciting for us girls...and Pepper was no help at all.
Fresh out of the box
Check out all the leg room!
Such a big girl!

Happy Friday!

Emma had a play date with Owen this week...those two are always fun to watch. They have a good time...and love eating goldfish.
Emma called Steven's ace bandage 'daddy's big giant bandaid' she lives to play with it. He has tendinitis in his wrist, do he uses it every now and then.
Here she is at night getting ready for bed...she specifically requested each of these things in her bed.

We went out last night for dinner and went shopping. Steven got a new shirt. I think he likes it.

Her favorite things

Emma is dancing while trying to read her book...you know, just combing her favorite things. We are listening to Mercy Me's new song Flawless...it's fabulous. We love to dance and be silly and make up our own actions.

The lemur got you!

Emma loves to be chased...and last night I chased her with the lemur. It 'got' her...literally. Haha. She thought it was great.
And last night wasn't as bad with no binky...it definitely takes her longer to fall asleep, usually I put her in bed awake and she goes to sleep on her own. She used to be eager for bed time, and now she seems to dread it. Hopefully she adjusts soon. I'm pretty sure she used her thumb to fall asleep at nap today, bc she fell asleep right away.
And how could I forget that she went potty like a big girl today! Yay!

Mr. Potato Head, no binky day 2

Emma CAN play/read by herself on occasion. She has been doing lots of reading lately, actually she has been doing a LOT of talking lately in general. I burst out laughing at dinner last night when I recalled telling my dad that Emma's chattiness didn't bother me...bc sometimes I wonder how she gets a breath in! At our women's retreat this weekend, our speaker mentioned that women have shorter vocal cords than men and do talking requires less effort...I'm pretty sure Emma's vocal cords are tiny. :) Anyway, here she is playing with Mr. Potato Head. Oh and today is not going as well with no binkies...she cried before bap quite a bit...only slept for 40 minutes and woke up screaming. She wanted her binky. She knows it's broken, but she has always had it to sleep with, so I guess it will just take some time.

Fast workout, chick-fil-a and dance

Last Thursday we had a lunch play date at Chick-fil-a. We did a quick early workout before we left...Emma did some dips, even piglet did some crunches. Emma ate all her food and more at lunch and had a blast playing...although I think her favorite thing to do was open and close the door since there was a handle down at her level. She then fell asleep in the car right before we got home and so didn't get a real nap in. Thankfully we had dance class that afternoon. She loves dance class and it always comes at a perfect time. I snuck some pictures this time. Prepare for cuteness!
Notice her big yawn since she had no nap.

Binky weaning, day 1

We decided it was time to take Emma's binkies away...and I guess it happened to work out that she chewed right through her last two binkies this weekend. She wasCRAZY before going to bed, like jumping in her crib trying to stay awake. And when I turned her light off to rock her to sleep, she started making silly raspberry noises with her hand/mouth...and any other noise she could think of. I had to put her down bc I was about the burst out laughing. Anyway, she talked to herself for a while, but.....no crying. Successful night one!
The last binky. I better erase these pictures from my phone before she sees them!

Playing at the park

We had nothing in the agenda yesterday, besides normal chores, so we decided to go to Lincoln (about 30 minaway), and have some fun and enjoy the nice weather. We started out at the park, which reminded us of the big park in San Angelo. Emma (andDaddy) had lots of fun climbing, sliding, and swinging high enough to make me nervous. Then we drove a few blocks and went to the Double Barrel Smokehouse...which is supposed to be Texas BBQ. I will admit it was very Texas in there, but the prices were very Califorina. And I suppose the food would have been better if we had not already had authentic Texas BBQ...sorry, no one can fake that. Just wasn't Bubbas. Emma, however, loved her's. She ate her hamburger and all her corn...and then apparently ice cream with sprinkles is part of her meal.then we headed to Target to do a little shopping. Great evening out. :)
Don't know if you can tell, but there are people swimming in the pool behind us for swim team.
She thought the slide was too high to go down by herself...so Daddy went with her.
She didn't like the tire swing...too much spinning.
