Just hangin out

Emma and I haven't had much to do while Daddy has been at work, so we have just been playing and having fun...enjoying our weather. These pictures are from the park yesterday.

Starting early

So tonight Emma was blowing in a straw she found. After she got some good buzzing in, We looked at each other and Steven suggested I go get her a mouthpiece. She did pretty good for a two-year-old. So we let her play his old trumpet. I took so many videos because every time I stopped recording she would do it really well...or want to see her video.

This picture was taken almost exactly a year before Emma was born...we played at an alumni thing at homecoming.
For those who don't know, Steven and I played trumpet together in high school...and don't let him fool you...I was better! ;)

Relaxing

Since we have been so busy and sick, today we just decided to relax...at least me and Emma, daddy is working and I just heard sirens. Anyway, we slept in, watched some cartoons, went for a nice morning walk with Pepper and came back to a cleaned house...there are perks to living in tlf. Then we skyped, and took a nap. She does have dance this afternoon, but that's all that's on the schedule for today and tomorrow.
She dressed lamb chop in her pajamas.
We found two lady bugs and some turkeys on our walk.

Apparently this is an old-fashioned dishwasher, where you have to hook it up to the sink. So weird.

Happy belated St. Patrick's Day

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I was under the weather. We did finally all get a good nights sleep last night...it has been a few days and we were needing it. Our first night in tlf was freezing, as you can see Emma telling you we were cold. I did finally find the thermostat, which had been set to 65. Brr. Also, Emma got new bath toys and we have been enjoying them. And yesterday she and I went with Cynthia to the local pregnancy help center to drop off some donations. We got a tour, and they gave Emma a 12 week old fetus/baby replica/doll....she calls it her baby. And in the picture below she was giving it a bath as it got dirty.

Getting out of the house

Today they started working in our bathtub, so we had to get out of the house...they put a very chemically smelly solution to get the glue off that remained on the tub once they took the cover off...so they wanted us to not be in there. However, check-in time was not until 4, so we had to figure out what to do. Steven had his PT test and some work stuff to do. Which left me, Emma and Pepper to occupy ourselves. So we went to Maurice's...I had a gift card burning a hole in my pocket. Then we went to Ross, Panera for lunch (where she chatted up all the other two-year-olds), and Target. After that we found a park so they could play...we should have spent more time at the park and less time at Target. They loved the park. Then we went to the mall to get some clothes, but by then Emma was DONE. As in, every time we went into a store she just looked up at me and said pleadingly, "go home momma." And when I tried to give her some shamrock shake, she barley had any and just kept asking me to hold her. so I did, and she looked up at me with these sad, tired eyes and asked to just go home...so after going to Payless, we did. Poor girl had been up since 5:45, with no nap until that ride home around 3. So we watched some George while Daddy got our hotel room, then we went to the park to watch the guys play volleyball, ate dinner and came to our room. We are all exhausted.
This playground was high...like I didn't even want to get on it.
Crashing after a day of shopping with mom. The smell wasn't too bad, so we had dinner here.
Even Emma got to play...with daddy at least. She then got sand in her eye so we had to go home.

This is what we do when we hear the National Anthem at 5.
Pepper had a fabulous day.

Packing for tlf

Tomorrow we go to tlf so that housing can fix our bathtub situation once and for all. So tonight Emma and I started packing. At least when she was in my suitcase she wasn't destroying anything...it was a long day.

Mommy play date

As a part of our Moms and Mentors group, each month we meet with one of the other moms for a mommy play date...last month I went shopping with Bre, and this month Caitlin and I decided to go to Awful Annie's for breakfast. Neither of us had been there, and we had heard it was good...its little place in downtown Lincoln. I thought I might have to cancel bc of car issues, but we were able to go...although that should have been a sign that we should have just stayed home. Her alarm didn't go off and she ended up being late. It wasn't a big deal, Emma and I just walked down the street and went shopping. Emma got a Curious George coloring book. And everyone was right...the food that I did eat was fabulous. However, Emma's tummy was upset and she threw up. So after getting her changed and cleaned up, we left. And then I apparently left my delicious leftovers on top of the van and drove off...oops. Oh well. Now we are home, watching Curious George, and then I hope she will take a good nap since she didn't have one yesterday. I think we will just take it easy today...not try too much, since you can see how are day is going. But our morning wasn't all bad at all...we had fun shopping, Emma got some sidewalk chalk and her coloring book. I got some yummy peanut butter cereal, and a candle for those pesky mosquitoes.  My food was delicious, they didn't charge us for Emma's breakfast, and Caitlin paid for our meal. Most importantly I had a change of clothes for Emma, which I was very glad to have with me.

This is from Tuedsy night, we went to Chick-fil-a for dinner.

Planting flowers

So I am in a Moms and Mentors group with the chapel/PWOC and in our last book one of the things they talked about was intentionally adding beauty to your home/life by teaching your kids what brings you joy...that was a weird way to explain it. But anyway, she said she had afternoon tea parties with candles and classical music...after cleaning of course. For Steven this means helping Emma do pull-ups. For me, we planted flowers. I do love to cook, and I do let her do that with me, but it is so nice out and I saw some wild flowers out, so we went and bought some flowers to put in our pots...since housing won't let me dig up my ugly bushes. :( We had fun, and got very dirty. Emma loved that she had her own watering can and shovel to use to scoop the dirt.
