The post-nap blues

Usually when Emma wakes up from a nap, she takes a while to wake up...sometimes over an hour, and a full meal. I have a feeling she is still tired sometimes, because she is pretty much always happy when she gets up after a really long nap...like 3 hours. I am trying to think of things to distract her to make her happy when she wakes up, other than playing on my ipad or watching the Kitty video. Yesterday we went and played outside...that usually works. And one day I tried put all her newly dried kitties and dollies on her couch, waiting for her when she got up. She did sit right down with them, but she still was in a bad mood. She has been asleep for almost 3 hours already this afternoon, so hopefully she will be in a good mood when she gets up. Plus I will have fresh rolls ready, right out of the oven...AND it is nice enough to play outside.

Oreo face

So I gave Emma an Oreo yesterday....it looked like she ate dirt. But I think she liked it. :)

Teething pain

Emma is teething..again. I can't wait for all her teeth to be in. The poor girl is miserable half the time and has lots of trouble sleeping. She woke up from her nap pretty miserable, so we decided just watch the Lion King. She enjoys snuggling, watching all the animals, and just being distracted from her pain while she gnaws on her binkies.

Dolly and Kitty

In this family, well...Steven at least, refers to things by what they are, not by their names. For example, he calls Pepper "Dog" most of the time. (I, however, get to be called my my name. :) So does Emma, most of the time.) Anyway, sometimes we give Emma's dolls names, but mostly we call them 'dolly.' Lately, she has been giving her cats and dolls baths in Pepper's water bowl. Right now we have two kitties and a doll drying on the patio. So we got out another doll...which she decided she need to get to know. She read to her, rocked her, hugged her, and made me kiss her when she got hurt (the doll). And now she has taken her outside to play.
New outfit from Grandma Joy.

Accessorized with Mom's sunglasses.

Off to play! (Pre-bath.)

Playing with Kitty...before its latest bath.

Da

Sorry for the blur...can you see the smile?

Tired girl.

Trying to figure out her zipper.

Changing her diaper??

Snuggling with new dolly.

Reading to her.

And...carrying her around the room, no special treatment in this house.

Here Mom, rock my baby.

Apparently she got hurt...I had to kiss her and then she got a binky.

Spring is in the air!

We have been enjoying our spring temperatures, although it is going to cool down a little tomorrow. I can't wait until these temperatures are here to stay!
Listening to music early yesterday morning.

Playing nicely and quietly outside by herself. :)

Such a happy girl.
And for those keeping track....Emma slept for over 3 hours yesterday.

Giggly girl

Yesterday Emma and I went to the mall for lunch, and then to play. She was quite the charmer. She just giggled and giggled, everyone around her was enjoying it. And she was happy to perform. She was just happy in general...she fell down, she laughed, went down the slide, she laughed. She was crazy.

You can't handle...the cuteness

Daddy had the day off today...but he had some homework to do, so Emma and I went out and did some shopping. Then we came home and Emma and Daddy took a nap. Well, Emma sort of took a nap. If anyone has any suggestions to get her to nap longer than 45 minutes, my ears are open. Thankfully, I hadn't tried to take a nap yet, so I just let her play outside...its in the 70s.

Wow...look at all my binkies.

Just checking to make sure they are still there.

Ahhhh

Cool girl

Bounce me on your leg, Daddy!

Then feed me your cereal...a Sunday morning tradition.

Hey.

Outfit from Johnny and Jennifer...if you couldn't tell.

Ooh, I like this song!

It's my favorite!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.  John 15:13
While I love Valentine's Day, our culture has made love into mushy feelings...this is not what love is. God's love was demonstrated for us on the cross...that He sent His only Son to die for our sins...while we were still sinners. He didn't wait for us to become 'good,' but He took on our punishment, paid in full, so that we could have life eternal with Him in Heaven. Now on earth, those that know Christ through His Word, live out this sacrificial love so that the world can see what God is like, because God is love. Laying down one's life does not always mean dying for them, but 'dying' to our own selfish desires, and desiring the other person's highest good, no matter the cost...even unto death.

Now...on to some adorableness. The weather outside is wonderful...and we are loving it. Here are some pictures of our little Valentine. :)
This is from yesterday...they don't look happy, but I think really they are squinting in the sun.

Ahh, what a little angel.

Can you see the tail?

My little book lover.

Peeking at me.

We had a cupcake date...Emma went straight for the frosting.

Back to spring

It is finally nice enough for Emma to play outside again...which makes everyone much happier. I haven't updated in a couple days because her naps have been super short...she just wakes up crying hysterically. I don't know why...she did it last night at 4AM too. (She did go back to sleep then, though.) She still woke up today in the middle of her nap, but thankfully she put herself back to sleep. Hopefully she starts napping better...it't no fun when she wakes up like that. She is just inconsolable. :( Anyway, here are a couple pictures from the last couple days.
Layin back, watching a movie.

Pushing her doll in her cart outside.

Ice Day

San Angelo apparently got enough moisture to make the roads unsafe...apparently VERY unsafe. The base commander, however, didn't get the memo...until later. After Steven went to work, like two hours after, the base commander told everyone to stay home...probably because the police chief told everyone to stay off the roads. Oh well. I don't know how much work they got done, but Steven came home at lunch time for the day. Emma promptly woke up, even though she had been asleep for only 30 minutes. (She did just go back down though.) He seems to have the magic touch...he comes home, she wakes up. Anyway, this picture is before Daddy came home. She is just chillin in her chair...with her house shoes on since we didn't go to Bible study.

Oh the cuteness

Emma was adorable today...a lot of work, yes, but equally adorable. It's nice how that works out. :)
This is now my favorite thing to do when she isn't feeling well.

So tired.

Just got back from errands...70s yesterday, 30s today.
This picture needs an explanation. She carried her doll around, putting her on different chairs, etc. Nothing was quite right. Then she put the blanket and doll on Daddy's chair, and rocked her, which is what she is doing in this picture. Apparently she needed to rock her baby. I can hardly contain how cute this is. It was absolutely adorable.

Saturday Fun

Saturday was very nice here...in the 70s. Sorry for those who are still stuck in snow...but we were glad to be able to get outside. (Right now it is 77.) Emma didn't sleep well Friday night, and then only had a 45 minute nap on Saturday. And since Daddy had her the whole weekend before, and Saturday morning by himself, Emma and I went out with Katheleen so he could enjoy having the house to himself. We know Katheleen from church, and she works at the bowling alley on base. We saw her the other day when we went to eat there for dinner...Emma acted like she wanted to play with the big, colorful balls, so I called her (Katheleen) up and asked if she would go bowling with us. When we got there, Emma was excited....at first....then we started bowling. She did not like it, not one bit. She was crying and when I put her down she ran for the door. She didn't even want to eat snacks...just LEAVE!!! I tried a couple times to get her to push her ball down, and she would after some coaxing, but that was it. Then back into my arms, and get her out of there!!!We only bowled a couple frames...and then decided to spend the rest of the afternoon outside. :) She was much happier. And we wore her out...she slept 13 hours last night and only woke up once.
Look at all these balls, Mom!

The kid's balls.

I found a seat..sit down, Mom!

Emma and Katheleen.

At the park.

I need help getting down!

Where's Emma?

Here I am!!

The slide!

Going down the slide with Mom.

Yay!

Climbing back up to go down again!
