Happy Halloween!

Here is Emma's Halloween outfit from yesterday.
Her shirt says, "I love my Mummy"
 And here she is today.
I am hoping to go to the church's fall festival and Johnny and Jennifer's, but Emma just fell asleep.  I will probably wake her up in an hour though...she hasn't been sleeping as well at night, so I am trying to not let her sleep so long during the day. Hopefully it works!

Shots and Goodbye Aunt Grace!

Emma got her first shots yesterday. Since she doesn't really cry much, it was hard to watch her cry, knowing she was in pain. Thankfully, she seemed to feel better before she went down for the night around 10 or 11.
One of her Barbie band-aids
We took her shopping afterwards...I mean, shopping always makes me feel better.
I know you can't tell, but she is unhappy in this one.
She weighs 9lbs 4 oz. and is 21 1/4 inches long. Her weight and length are in the 16th percentile, and her head (14 1/4in.) is in the 5th percentile. Her head doesn't seem to have completely rounded out, so I don't think the percentile is accurate.
Aunt Grace, I love you, but I need my mommy!
It was really great to have Grace here. Emma definitely enjoyed all the singing, reading, and playing/exercising we did. And I enjoyed all the showers I got. :)
Saying goodbye....happy after a good night's sleep.
Pretty excited to come home in less than 3 weeks! Can't believe it is so soon.
It was cold enough to wear a hoodie this morning!
Looks like her daddy today. :)
She was smiling in her sleep, but peeked when I took the picture.

My first birthday card from Emma

Somehow, Emma managed to send me a birthday card...and a very appropriate one at that.

This is what 'she' wrote: "Also, that's what I got you for your birthday. Love Emma"

Lou's quilt

Here is Emma enjoying the quilt that Lou sent.

Isn't she just the cutest thing in the whole world?

Chillin' with Aunt Grace

Emma and I have just been hanging out with Grace this week. Here are Emma, Grace and Pepper yesterday as we were getting ready to go out for dinner. Pepper really wanted to come with us. (We also went to the chocolate store. The chocolate man gave me free chocolate since it was my birthday.)

Here they are today, hanging out while I went to the commissary. :)

Emma is tired from out workout. We did Jillian this morning.

Lots of pictures today!

Emma has been sleeping much better this weekend, which means mommy has been sleeping much better. :) Today we are excited because Aunt Grace comes! I put Emma in a very adorable dress outfit thing. She is super cute.

She really likes this bouncer thing that Campos gave us. She kicks and kicks in it. I think she likes it partly because she can move her legs better than when she is in her bed, and also because she can see from a different angle. She loves to look outside and to just watch me doing things around the house....particularly working out is very exciting. This morning she watched Pepper a lot. She seems to be getting more interested in Pepper lately. (She can also see her better now that she is in the bouncy seat.)
Hey puppy dog

Where's my kiss?!
I don't understand why little kids insist on opening their mouths for dogs to lick in. Emma has figured it out already. Thankfully, Pepper hasn't yet given her a kiss on the mouth yet.

Here is the quilt that Grampy Aloha gave Emma. We picked it up at the post office the day we went to the hospital.

She is doing very good at lifting her head up and kicking while she is on her tummy.

All tuckered out
I think we will have to run lots of errands today. They are putting in the carpet next door and they are VERY noisy. Between Pepper barking at them, their hammering and their yelling and singing, I don't see how anyone could sleep.

Cloth Diapers and sleeping in

Normally, Emma sleeps (from feeding to feeding) 4 or 6 hours to start the night off, and then another 4 after that. It is very nice and I always feel better after that first 'long sleep.' However, the last few days she hasn't been sleeping quite as long. Last night she only gave me 2 hours that first time.(She falls asleep anytime I take her anywhere...on a walk, in the car, etc. I think she has been napping too much since I have been trying to get out more.)  Anyway, we slept in this morning. Isn't she cute?

I was curious how her cloth diapers were going to fit, so I put one on her.

 It was pretty big. :)

Farewell to the Flewellings

Well, this morning Keith, Martha and Guen left for Alaska. After the movers packed everything up, I looked at their empty patio and suddenly felt the intense void that is left now that they are gone. It is not every base you meet people that are really more like family...that you spend holidays and birthdays with...who call you over in the mornings for an impromptu breakfast of homemade blueberry pancakes...go on mini vacation with you...share their own families with you...and a little girl who melted our hearts. We will miss seeing them all everyday and hearing "Pope!" and "Teve!" called through the gate. Can't wait to watch their next adventure...and visit as soon as we can get up there. We love you guys and enjoy drinking that fresh water!!!

Playing again

We finally got out of the house today. We took a baby swing that Campos gave us to the Pregnancy Help Center, since there is no room for it in our house. While we were there I mentioned that we were going to look for a mobile for her crib. One of the girls said they had one there and I should just take that one. So we did. Emma now gets to look at the Muppet babies while sitting in her crib. She seems to like it. And even better, it was free and I didn't have to look at several and decide which one I want!

We also went to Hobby Lobby and Target. Emma was very good. She slept basically the whole time I shopped...I even tried on clothes and she didn't even move. One lady in Hobby Lobby apparently couldn't contain herself and exclaimed, "Oh, look at that little baby!" So I let her look at Emma some more. I feel bad keeping all the cuteness to myself. Emma was very charming.

Since she slept so much, she was wide awake to eat, poop and play. So we watched the ceiling fan had some tummy time. She is doing a lot more now...doing baby push-ups and today she even looked as if she was trying to roll herself over.
Trying to roll over

Look Daddy, I'm doing push-ups!

Frozen

Last night Martha and Keith did some laundry in our washer, and Pepper of course barked ferociously every time they came over. I guess she will never get used to them coming over, since they are leaving tomorrow. Anyway, Emma was sleeping when Keith came to pick up their laundry. Pepper barked, but Emma was an angel and didn't even wake up. She did, however, flinch. :)

Eat, Sleep, Poop

Sunday was an eating day, yesterday was a sleeping day, and today was a pooping day. She is definitely growing...look how short her newborn pants are!
I miss you Daddy!
I know no one thought she would wear her newborn clothes, or at least not much, but I am glad to be able to put her 0-3 months clothes on her. I even think there are a couple 0-3 months outfits that are getting a little short. :)

We are doing pretty good by ourselves so far, much better than I had anticipated. However, we have yet to go anywhere besides out for a walk (besides church). I keep meaning to go places, but every time I am ready she goes to sleep, and I hate to interrupt her naps if I don't have to. She just looks so peaceful when she is sleeping. Plus the last few mornings she didn't get up for a while until 10 or 11, and then she has to eat and poop...and then she falls asleep again. Oh well, we can go tomorrow.

Growth spurt

Today was a sleeping day for Emma. That means she did almost nothing else. (I had a feeling a sleeping day was coming. Yesterday was definitely an eating day.) She woke up every couple hours to eat, and I got one little 'play' session with her while she was trying to poop. Otherwise, she was busy growing. She even fell asleep on our walk. Oh well, at least Pepper enjoyed it.

Going to church

This morning Guen got baptized at her church, and we went to watch. Emma got dressed up in what may be my favorite dress yet. She is super cute. Smile courtesy of the ceiling fan. :)
The last few mornings when we wake up she eats/poops, and then we go into our room, lay on the bed, watch the ceiling fan and sing "the blades on the fan go round and round..." to the tune of "the wheels on the bus". She always gets really excited and smiles at it. I think she also tries to sit up and reach/eat it. Today when I was holding her under it, it was obvious she was trying to sit up to get closer. Guess we will have to get a mobile for her crib.

Date night

Last night we had our first date night since Emma was born. She stayed with Martha and Keith (and Guen, of course), and we went to Olive Garden. Martha posted some pictures on Facebook of Emma's night, and I emailed you the video she sent. Can't believe today is the last day we will all be together. Anyway, here is a family picture Martha took before we left for dinner.

I can't wait to start working out...people keep asking me when I am due. I don't care as much, but it is super awkward for them. Oh and yes, I did get my hair cut. It is very short, but much easier to deal with.
She keeps getting to be more fun...she makes lots of faces, but mostly she has been smiling a lot. It sure makes it easier to get up at night when you are up with a smiling baby. :) She really is a good little girl. Even smiled at her daddy yesterday when he came home.

A real smile

I was pretty excited to post today, since we have some great pictures! Yesterday I had an appointment, so while I blew dry my hair, Emma watched the ceiling fan. She is very interested in the ceiling fan and watching herself in the mirror. When I got done drying my hair, I came back to check on her and this is what I found.

Can't decide if she was more excited to see me or about the ceiling fan. Probably a little of both. Anyway, she has been smiling a lot the last couple of days. In fact, she picks out her own clothes in the morning. I just show her a couple of outfits, and the one she smiles the biggest for she gets to wear. I know it's silly, but she has so many cute clothes I can't decide what to put her in, and this way it's more fun. Here are the other pictures we took yesterday. Enjoy!

Playing

Last night Emma slept great...which means her mom and dad slept great. :) She slept a whole 6 hours before waking up to eat, and then another 3 or 4 afterward. (And she basically slept the whole day yesterday...busy growing I guess.) So this morning when she woke up she was happy and ready to play. When I brought her rocker-bed downstairs she fussed a little...apparently she wasn't done eating. So I picked her up out of her crib and tried to feed her. But instead of eating she grinned at me real ornery-like....as if to say, "Haha, I tricked you!" Then later, after I brought her downstairs, I tooted and she smiled real big again. I think she learned that one from Guen while in my belly. Anyway, she has had a very happy morning, but my camera is slow and I still have not caught a smile. We will keep working on it. But for now, here are a couple pictures of her and her baby gym that the neighbors gave us. The thing on the top makes music and has blinking lights...she loves to listen and watch the lights.

Sleepy baby

Emma was very tired this afternoon. I held her while she slept for a couple hours and then Steven came home, so he took a turn. She wakes up periodically, obviously uncomfortable. I think she has some gas bubbles, as she tooted and it echoed very loudly in her very large size 1 diapers. (I am going to go get some more newborn diapers later.) Anyway, she keeps falling back a sleep when we are holding her, and we don't mind. She is pretty cute. I mean, wouldn't you rather hold a sleeping baby than do the laundry? :)
